We’ve all had moments in college where we just wanted it all to go away with a push of a button. We feel your pain and wanted to share some of our worst experiences. You can laugh, we’ll just be over here crying.
1. When your thesis takes over your life
“I’m done with it now, but when I was on my third cup of coffee at 9pm on Saturday staring at a blank Word document…. I needed that easy button.” –Kate Mazzotta, Florida State University
2. When you’re sick and your mom isn’t there to take care of you
“I wish an easy button existed whenever I was sick. I could press it and my mom could magically teleport to my college apartment with hot tea and her homemade chicken soup in hand.” –Laura Durkalec, Florida State University
3. When you try to avoid the Freshman 15 like the plague
“Late night snacks were so easy and finding a time to go for a run just wasn’t.” –Emily Sokol, Boston College
4. When you look at your bank account and cry
“College is like a terrible catch-22 because there’s so many things we want to do but we have so little money. Like, it’s great to go into the city and grab dinner or see a movie but if you continuously drop $20 on ‘little’ fun activities then you’re suddenly so broke you don’t even have an alcohol fund.” –Andrea Fitzgerald, Boston College
5. When you’re waiting to here back from a potential employer…and never do
“The hardest part about applying and interviewing for a job is the waiting. I hate it; it’s like being in job purgatory. Especially when they never get back to you. That’s the worst because then after all that waiting you just have to accept the fact that you didn’t get it.” –Paulina Issac, Temple University
6. When you have to say buh-bye to your freshman-year friend group
“I felt like once I hit sophomore year and the whole partying every weekend high wore off I realized that the people I was hanging out with were a superficial friend group that was only good for that specific reason. It was lonely for a little bit, but I let them go and the few people that stuck around were the ones that were worth keeping.” –Julianne Spingler, Temple University
7. When that paper snuck up on you and you weren’t ready
“Through a combination of bad luck, pushing due dates onto the same day and an incredibly busy week, I found myself sitting down to write a seven-page paper at midnight. At 5 a.m., I really wanted that easy button.” –Dakota Connell-Ledwon, Notre Dame University
8. When your roommate has no chill
“I’ll never forget sophomore year when my roommate never left the room and spent the entire semester sitting in the dark playing League of Legends all day and all night. There’s nothing like falling asleep to the sound of nerd rage.” –Daniel Kuhn, Penn State
9. When you look at your bills and cry
“When I saw my housing and tuition bill I almost had a heart attack. I didn’t because I realized that I couldn’t afford a medical bill on top of it. Once I saw how much college costs I began looking for blocks from the Mario games.” –Emanuel Griffin, University of Florida
10. When you have to move out and you’re at 0 mph
“After a week of developing a pretty severe coffee addiction during finals week you’re hands-down exhausted. The prospect of packing up a 10×10 dorm where you’ve hoarded more office supplies than Staples is the last thing you want to do. Easy button please.” –Kateline McCabe, University of San Diego
