Even saying the words “Valentine’s Day” can send single girls into full-on panic mode, so, for now we'll just refer to it as D-Day instead. After all, this countdown can be your way of celebrating and appreciating you, rather than having to go out and buy something for a significant other after weeks of agonizing over the “perfect gift”.
This “D-Day” can be about making YOU feel as good by pampering yourself rather than having someone else do it for you with cheesy or potentially weird gifts.
One of the best combinations of both pampering and relaxation is creating a spa day for yourself, even if it’s just in your dorm room. Invite some friends over for nail painting, at-home facials, and blowing through seasons after seasons of your favorite show on Netflix (don’t subject yourselves to romantic comedies, why make yourself feel bad?).
On the other hand, you could use this day as an excuse to splurge and go get a massage. While every knot in your shoulders melts away let boy-worries or woes disappear too.
You could also use this day as an excuse to go wild and have a fun girls’ night to keep your mind off of every other couple who will be parading the streets. Throw a huge dance party at your place with a ton of your single girl and guy friends—just because guys are there doesn’t mean there have to be sparks!
A night on the town would also be another great way to just enjoy life with the people that care about you the most. Seek out fun bars and clubs rather than restaurants where couples will be as far as the eye can see, and if you stick close by your friends a fantastic night is in store…whether or not you remember it.
One of the most important things to remember on this day is that it doesn’t need to be about how lonely you are, because even if it’s not a hot guy there will always be people that truly care about your happiness. Spending that day with them helps you to truly revel in the friendships and family relationships you keep, to prove that one isn’t really the loneliest number.
