All of the shoes in the world walk away.
Along with them come the cups who roll away,
The socks that hop away,
And the pens that glide away
(leaving a black trail behind them,
fading until they run out of ink.)
Along with those go
All the other household objects
That have suddenly decided to revolt.
What a sight to behold,
People’s houses emptying by the minute!
Where do they go?
People can only gawk and stare.
On Thanksgiving Day,
People stand around,
unsure what to do.
All of their pots, pans and tools have up and left,
So they cannot have a grand dinner!
All of the candles, fake leaves and party hats have gone as well,
So they cannot decorate or celebrate!
It is only then that they realize
Perhaps they had much more to be thankful for after all.
