Becca made her biggest blunder when she sent home St. Petersburg native Connor Obrochta at just week six alongside Lincoln and Chris—both the literal worst. Of course, that didn’t stop Obrochta from thriving after he left our television screens, making some serious #gains in both his personal and professional life and skyrocketing to social media fame practically overnight.
After the final rose and a snub on Paradise (seriously Krystal?), Obrochta has continued his passion for fitness and uses his newfound influence to help his followers gain confidence in themselves, all while giving us some seriously thirst-worthy shots of his pup, Jordy.
We talked to Obrochta about exactly what it felt like to rise to social media fame overnight, and where we will see him next.
While it might seem like the coveted spot of Bachelor Nation alum automatically equals selling Flat Tummy Tea or becoming a full time club promoter with other reality personalities, Obrochta proves otherwise. Post-Bachelorette, Obrochta finds that his life has changed for the better, and not just from getting stopped on the street to snap photos with fans or jetset with other members of the season 14 squad. “I am blessed to have been on the show, to truly be able to find love but to also get a following,” Obrochta said. “It has allowed me to be able to reach more people in bettering themselves through health and fitness. My passion and life goal is to continue to bring awareness through my knowledge and certifications on how important a healthy lifestyle is.”
Obrochta stresses that even though he has influencer star power behind him, he remains the same down-to-earth guy that we all fell for onscreen, just with a voice to speak for what he cares about. “I have learned that having a following allows me to show what I believe in,” Obrochta said. “Others see that and potentially better their lives with a certain product, exercise, [or] motivational post.”
The Bachelorette gave him a platform, and Connor has chosen to use it to reflect his passions instead of just sharing ads—something we can all admire.
Obrochta also has plans to expand his platform to include a Youtube channel in the near future, meaning he doesn’t plan to stop hustling anytime soon.
The channel will give fans who miss seeing him on their screens an inside look at his new life, while also spreading his passion for fitness to his following. “The goal of the channel is to take people through my daily life, showing them how I travel, am with my family, friends, dog, etc.” Obrochta said. “I bring in my fitness expertise by incorporating some workout routines and exercises with explained movements and modifications for any fitness level.”
With just a few clicks, Bachelor Nation can follow along with Obrochta, like The Bachelorette version of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The platform will also allow him to engage with his audience in a way that feels more personal than just sharing a photo on Instagram or writing a funny tweet. “I love helping people gain confidence in who they are, to be the best they can be each day with not worrying about what people think or say,” Obrochta said.
Obrochta’s success also gives us some serious motivation to accomplish our own dreams. Of course, going from a pro baseball player to reality TV star to social media influencer seems like an unlikely path for most of us, but his story emphasizes the importance of sharing what you feel passionately about. “Do what you love to do and take chances. Bottom line,” Obrochta said. “Make sure that you have a clear path of what you want to achieve and don’t let anything get in the way of that path. If you set your mind to something with good morals and a positive attitude, you can make anything happen.”
While not all of our futures will include a chance at finding love alongside 26 other potential suitors, Obrochta’s drive and motivation gives us some serious inspo to get hustling and share our truth.
What can we expect from Obrochta now that this cycle of America’s favorite reality franchise has wrapped up? Obrochta teased that we might not have seen the last of him on our screens. “I believe my time in the TV world is not finished,” Obrochta said. “So I will have to say yes, you will be seeing me again!”
While we can only speculate on what this cryptic answer could mean (brb, searching Reality Steve ASAP), in the meantime we rose-lovers can continue to content ourselves with Jordy updates, and of course, revel in the #threebuttonminmum that we hope never, ever gets old.
