The fashion world is always on top of the latest trends. The spring 2010 lines that debuted back in September are finally hitting stores. So before you open your wallet, it is essential to uncover spring’s standout looks. This way you will know which styles to add to your wardrobe as we transition from the winter months into the new season!
From tribal patterns to romantic ruffles and neutrals, girls have a variety of styles to carry them into spring.
Trend: Ruffles and Bow-adorned Looks
Try one of the ultra-feminine looks this spring by adding flirty details to your outfits. Both ruffles and bows add voluminous shape and texture to your wardrobe. J. Crew has fantastic ruffled blouses and skirts this season ranging from $40 to $80.
Trend: The Khaki Trench Coat
Classic khaki and denim is being reinvented this spring. Simple fashion staples like the denim jacket, khaki skirt, and white blouse can be found in new shapes and designs. These simple pieces can be paired with safari-inspired jewelry and other prints to add some flare. Try the Gap and Banana Republic for the classics. Michael Kors is also a great option if you are looking to invest.
Trend: “Cut Out” Dresses
Keep your eye out for dresses with cut outs that will accentuate your shape. Designs that show of your back are especially popular. Check out Urban Outfitters for backless and open-panel styles ranging from $58 to $78.
Trend: Playful Patterns
Safari and Tribal patterns are the new floral this spring! If patterned clothes are too bold for you, try accessorizing with a leopard print clutch, ballet flat or bangle. Designers Tory Burch and Diane Von Furstenburg are known for their prints, but Forever 21 and H&M also offer more affordable options.
Trend: Elegant pastels and neutrals
While vivid colors make a bold visual statement, understated tonal colors and pastels were dominating the runways this season. These feminine colors are beautiful with lace and petal details. Anthropologie has a large selection of unique pieces in neutral colors this spring. Tops range from $40 to $80 and dresses are usually around $100.
To update men’s wardrobes for spring, it is more about experimenting with colors and textures instead of new shapes or design. Be gutsy and step outside your comfort zone to experience a contemporary spring look.
Trend: The Polo.
This classic men’s shirt is a staple for any spring wardrobe. Try a pastel color to pair with khakis or dressier denim for a preppy look. Lacoste and Polo have used larger logos and adopted new color palettes for an updated version of the traditional polo. Prices for these brands start at $65. Outlet stores often carry previous season’s styles at lower prices.
Trend: Dark and Distressed Denim
Be adventurous and try a new wash for your jeans this spring! Most guys are hesitant to try on slim fit cuts, so update your denim by trying a new wash. Try American Eagle, Banana Republic or Armani Exchange for a variety of options to fit your price point.
Trend: Boat Shoes
Vamp up your wardrobe from the ground up -starting with your shoes! Try a pair in leather or suede for a mature, dressed up look. Boat shoes from Sperry Topsider are a great casual option that will provide great comfort during the busy school week!
Trend: The Black Watch
While most men choose silver watches or leather bands, shiny black steel is a new distinctive style to try this spring. Citizen and Fossil offer affordable options starting at $75.
Trend: Vibrant Colors
Be adventurous and try donning a vibrant red this season! The warm weather is quickly approaching so it is time to bring a little life to your clothing. The Gap and Banana Republic offer a variety of red options that can be paired with their other classic denim and khaki items. Armani Exchange has more trendy options starting at $48
Trend: Utility Jackets
The urban utility jacket can take you anywhere day to night. Utility inspired vests and pants other options to utilize this trend. Micheal Kors and J. Crew have embraced this style in their spring collections. Jackets are priced around $118 but will be a staple in your spring wardrobe and carry on through out the season.
