The new semester is officially in full swing and I’m already stressed out worrying about upcoming projects, papers, and exams. So thank goodness for these tunes because I’d probably lose my sanity without them. Warning: This is definitely an eclectic mix.
1. “King of Sorrow” Sade
As soon as the soothing starts to play, say goodbye to all your stress. Added bonus, this song is the perfect backdrop for some yoga.
2. “Chasing Pavements” Adele
There’s something about the way this song builds up to the chorus that makes you feel empowered and capable of dealing with problems. Confession – any Adele song will probably do the trick because nothing beats a voice like hers.
3. “Let It Be” The Beatles
You just can’t beat a classic, especially when it’s the Beatles. And as the song says, sometimes you just have to “Let it be!”
4. “Dreaming Out Loud” One Republic
The instrumentals alone are enough to relieve your stress, even on a really, really bad day. Throw in Ryan Tedder’s vocals and incredible lyrics and there’s no way you won’t be empowered to get things done.
5. “Billionaire” Travie McCoy feat. Bruno Mars
Imagining yourself filthy rich with money to spare as you hang out with the president is a sure way to get through a rough day.
6. “Danza Kuduro” Don Omar
You can’t stress when you're dancing and there’s no way you can keep your feet from moving when you hear this beat. Do I have a clue what he’s saying? Nope! Do I need to know to love the song? Definitely not!
7. “Dog Days Are Over” Florence and the Machine
Really needs no explanation, this song has it all. Awesome music, check. Awesome singing, check. Awesome lyrics, double check.
8. “Sing For the Moment” Eminem
While I’m aware that this isn’t the original song and the original may be a slightly better choice for getting rid of stress on a crappy day, no playlist is truly complete without a little Eminem.
