With gyms and workout studios closed, it makes it really difficult to get in that kick a$$, motivated workout mood. TBH everyone feels it. BUT, luckily Instagram friendly fitness instructors and trainers have been posting at-home workouts on their accounts for free. Anyone can access these workouts from a laptop, phone or hook it up through their TV to get a good sweat sesh.
So, grab your mat, weights and sweat towel and hop into a workout right from your Instagram account.
1. Rachael Devaux @rachaelsgoodeats
She gets ya good. You begin with the warm up, the first few reps and you feel like the fittest, flyest human. Then she whips out the ladder workout. Oh, boy. Grab your sweat towel, you need it. “Her Instagram Live workouts are perfect because they are challenging and only 45 minutes,” University of Iowa freshman Jenna Anderson said. “It’s also fun to do the workouts ‘with’ her and see how she performs each move. I also use Instagram a lot so it’s easy for me to see when she uploads a new workout.” Rachael utilizes Instagrams IGTV setting so all the workouts she posts are fully recorded and FREE. And get this, she also posts ~healthy~ recipes that you can substitute for your traditional unhealthy meal or snack like her recipe for healthy(er) homemade Twix bars. “They are gluten-free, dairy-free and refined sugar-free, so it makes me feel less guilty having dessert,” Anderson said. So, there are Twix bars that are (somewhat) good for you? Yay.
2. Kelsey Wells @kelseywells
Looking to tone your summer body? Then check out some of Kelsey’s workouts on her Instagram page. Her workouts aim for toning using weight lifting along with bodyweight exercises. “It is killer, but I love them,” St. Ambrose University junior Elle Burgmeir said. “I literally can’t walk after some of them.” Yeah, being sore sucks, but Kelsey also includes recovery instructions to tend to those sore peaches. “She includes roll out workouts for recovery,” Burgmeir said. Aside from her Instagram postings, Kelsey also offers her own workout program, PWR, for purchase. But of course, if you don’t wanna spend the money just follow along on her Insta page to get some seriously challenging workouts.
3. Kayla Itsines @kayla_itsines
If you just got to the fitness scene, don’t sweat it (haha). Kayla’s workouts and programs work great for beginners or those who need to find their workout groove yet. “Kayla’s program is geared a lot towards weight loss,” Burgmeir said. “A lot of the workouts are bodyweight, and you can choose between full body, arms, or legs,” she said. Kayla also adds regular cardio into her workout plan, BBG, either by walking, running or biking. “Both Kayla and Kelsey’s workouts are set up in timed circuits. The thing I like most about these workouts is that it’s a ‘go at your own pace’ kind of workout.” Both influencers also have full workout and nutrition programs that can be found on the fitness app SWEAT for purchase, along with their Instagram videos.
4. Sarah @sarahs_day
Like Rachael, Sarah also uses IGTV to share her workouts. However, she also incorporates workouts using simple items like towels or small exercise balls. “I’ve been following her at home eight-week guide, and I like having a good plan and structure for my workouts even if it’s from my living room,” University of Iowa sophomore Anna Sherman said. Most of her workouts are HIIT (high-intensity interval training) inspired, but she also does small mini exercises that can be done in 15 minutes. “She incorporates different things. Like one day it’ll be a 30-minute walk and talk while other days are intense HIIT workouts,” Sherman said. “She switches it up so it doesn’t get boring.” Other workouts she shares are yoga practices and sequences for extra flexibility work that you can follow along on your own mat at home. And to save the best for last she also adds amazingly, delicious healthy recipes like salted caramel cashew protein balls. She puts the videos on her account to show step by step how to make them. Workouts and yummy treats? It feels like heaven.
5. Kaisa Keranen @kaisafit
She is seriously JACKED. You can find every kind of workout on her Instagram feed using literally any household item: chairs, soup cans, you name it. The convenience? Not only does she share her workout ideas and plans on her account, but she also has a variety of time-conscious ones too. Only have five minutes to work out in the day? Check. She also shares her stylin’ fits and where you can copy the look in her Instagram highlights. Don’t let her cute athleisure wear fool you though, she can make you feel the burn pretty quick with various workouts from no equipment, bodyweight exercises or using resistance bands and weights to make that ab or leg workout just a little more challenging. Either way, you’ll have a toned stomach and legs for days.
