Ever wonder how to pick up that sexy beach babe down by the shore? Meet Kathryn Abrahamsen, advertising major at Pennsylvania State University. This Jersey-licious junior is giving us the right technique to catch the wave on how to pick her up!
CM: What is your favorite thing about the beach?
The tranquility of it all. Laying on the sand and under the sun with the sound of waves crashing in the background makes me forget I ever had a care in the world.
CM: What is your number one turn-off at the beach?
I'd have to say my number one turn off at the beach is a small bathing suit on a not so small person. (ex: the dreaded banana hammock!)
CM: How do you pick up someone at the beach?
It's basically the same in any situation, just look for common interests. If all else fails, I find that bluffing is a good alternative. For instance, I saw a guy skinboarding by himself once and walked over to ask him about it because I had actually just gotten a skinboard as a gift. Now whether or not I would ever actually use the thing, he would never know…
CM: What is the strangest thing anyone has ever done or said when trying to pick you up at the shore?
Nothing too out of the ordinary, at least not to me specifically. However I was walking on the boardwalk one night and saw a group of guys sitting on a bench and one of them was holding a sign that said, "give us a kiss" or something along those lines. (In case you're wondering…I obliged.)
CM: Have you ever hooked up on the beach?
Yup, kissing in a classy lifeguard stand.
CM: Is it better for them to be bold or mysterious when trying to pick you up?
I think bold is better. I can very easily confuse mystique with ‘wtf is this guy doing?’
CM: How do you let down someone you’re uninterested in?
When letting someone down easy I refer to the typical "I just think we should be friends' line. I do think honesty is the best policy, but how you handle it is key.
CM: What tells more about a person’s sexuality: how they dance, dress or kiss?
Hmm… when it comes to their sexuality, I would say how they dress because it goes hand-in-hand with how they want to be perceived. As for how they are sexually, I'd say kissing, ha.
CM: Who's better: a lifeguard or a surfer?
That's a tough one, because a lifeguard can save your life but a surfer knows how to live it. (At least that's how it appears on the surface) but if I had to choose, I would pick a surfer dude.
CM: All right, last question. What advice would you give to someone who wants to pick you up?
Well, I'm a big fan of good, atypical conversation. If we can avoid awkward silences and get along/have the basics in common, I'll consider you a keeper 🙂
