Meet Cindy Reyna, a senior at UC Santa Barbara who has been a model for more than nine years. Reyna has modeled for Myriad clothing lines, including Happy Endingz Swim Wear, Bizerk and Yenitza’s Bridal, as well as for the popular make-up line, MAC Cosmetics. While her ultimate goal is to become a news anchor for Spanish-language television, she plans to continue modeling and doing photo shoots and runway projects. Check out her tips on how to pick-up a beautiful model like her!
CM: Why did you decide to go into modeling?
I got into modeling when I was 13 years old back in my hometown of Guatemala, Mexico. It all started when my mom and my aunt signed me up to be in a modeling academy as a reward for getting good grades in school. I learned so much in that academy and had the opportunity to start going to casting calls for runway shows. I was also a promoter for several products including Coca Cola and Pepsi.
CM: What do you like most about modeling?
I like that in the modeling industry there is always something new going on, like meeting new people, making new connections and having new projects. I also enjoy it because in every shoot there are different concepts and ideas applied, and in the runway shows there are always different styles to model. Every modeling experience is different and interesting, and I always look forward to what the next modeling experience will be like.
CM: If you could do a photo shoot anywhere in the world, where would you want to go?
I would love to go to Greece. The culture, clear waters and blue skies are so naturally radiant and I would like to experience being there. It would just be simply amazing!
CM: When you are not modeling, what do you like to do?
I enjoy spending time with my family, hanging out with friends, going to the beach, watching movies (usually romantic comedies), hiking, working out and dancing.
CM: Who is your favorite model?
Marissa Miller from Victoria’s Secret, because her look and presence on stage is always fierce. I love that she can be sexy, yet classy at the same time, and that is the example I would like to follow.
CM: What do you think are the biggest myths about models?
I think that most people tend to generalize models as the “skinny,” “anorexic” and “conceited,” “not smart” type of people. I also feel like some tend to think of a model as only a “pretty face,” and do not consider the other talents and qualities he or she might have.
CM: Have you ever dated or hooked-up with another model?
I haven’t really dated any other models, but I would be willing to do so if the opportunity came along. I think it would be kind of interesting and entertaining to see how a relationship between two models would turn out.
CM: What traits do you look for in a guy?
I look for a smart, confident, friendly guy who has goals in life and moral values. He must also like to have fun, dance and be spontaneous.
CM: What advice would you give to someone who wants to pick you up?
I like down-to-earth guys, so if a guy is being himself and not trying too hard to be cool, that’s a good start.
CM: Describe the perfect date.
A guy picking me up on a motorcycle and then heading to a tropical island to have dinner during sunset, complete with candles, wine, a nice breeze… I guess I am just a romantic!
CM: What’s a deal breaker for you?
A man who would disrespect my family or any of the important people in my life.
CM: Describe yourself in three words.
Friendly, caring, determined.
