Clothing shopping can be hard, especially for students. With the prices rising every other day, getting cute and affordable clothes can feel like a struggle. There are so many places to shop, and at times, it can seem overwhelming, especially on our student budgets. Which stores have the best quality? Cheapest delivery? Best deals? It can definitely feel like a lot. But there are some hidden gems you might not know about when it comes to discounts and good stores. Lucky for you, today we’ll be looking at the best clothing stores for students.
Read on to see the top 10 clothing stores for students:
10. Zara
While Zara may not be the cheapest, you can get good quality for what you pay for. With a large selection of sizes and styles, Zara is perfect for every student. They have some great basics and essentials, but their winter collection is the best. If you’re looking for some staple winter pieces, such as a trenchcoat or blazer, Zara is a great place to shop.
9. Monki
Monki has great options for students, with their styles ranging from cute and casual to boho chic. It’s on the pricier side, but for the quality of clothes, it’s worth it. My favorite pieces to get from there are the jumpers because of how warm they are. Perfect for winter. Also, even though it’s a bit pricy, they always offer student discounts!
8. Nike
Everyone knows Nike. While I wouldn’t personally get my clothes from there because there are definitely cheaper places to get athleticwear, their shoes are definitely worth the money. As students, we do a lot of walking on campus, so getting the comfiest and most long-lasting shoes is essential. Especially when it starts to rain and snow. As you probably know, Nike has a large variety of sneakers. Also, if you’re interested in doing any sports at your university, Nike also has soccer shoes and running shoes. Student discounts of up to 10% are also offered.
7. Cotton On
If you’re looking for basics and layer-able clothes, Cotton On has you covered. As said in the name, a lot of their clothes are just basic cotton pieces, and for good prices too. You could get a nice quality long-sleeved shirt for under $15. Also, they always have lots of amazing sales to keep their clothes more affordable.
6. Prettylittlething
I’m sure if you’re a girl in college, you’ve heard of Prettylittlething. It’s one of the most known places to get the best Halloween costumes. Even though the Halloween season is over, it’s good to keep it in your back pocket for next time. Not only do they have inexpensive Halloween costume sets, but they also have so many cute accessories to go along. From headbands to wands, they have you covered for Halloween.
“I bought pretty much my whole costume from there, and they had next-day delivery,” Brighton University third-year Jessie Romerlee said.
The quality isn’t the absolute best. But, if you need a dress for a frat formal or a last-minute outing, Prettylittlething is great. Also, finding “going out” outfits can be hard. Some stores like Asos or Macy’s don’t have the right clothes you might be looking for. If you want clothes on the more revealing end, like crop tops and frat party tops, you can find all of that on Prettylittlething. Even though the quality isn’t too good, if you plan on just wearing the clothes to a frat, it won’t really matter.
5. Hollister
While Hollister might be known for its California, beachy-inspired clothing, it actually has more variety than you’d think. They have a little bit of everything. Like Cotton On, Hollister has some great basics. If you need some great layering basics, Hollister is a great choice. It might be pricier, but the quality is really good. They also have an amazing selection of winter clothes like sweaters and beanies.
“I feel like their clothes are becoming trendy again, and their back-to-school clothing is iconic,” University of Sussex second-year Lottie Carter said.
If you think of back to school, which brands come to mind? For me, Hollister is a classic. You’ve definitely seen their back-to-school ads in malls growing up. They’re known for having the best staples. Whether it’s long-sleeve baseball-inspired shirts or jeans. Also, they are partnered with Abercrombie & Fitch, another famous school-shopping clothing store.
4. Berksha
If you’re looking for a more put-together, business-casual outfit, Bersksha has a great selection to choose from. From super comfy but appealing slacks to a large variety of blazers, you can find the best business casual clothes at Berksha. Also, it’s cheaper than Zara. If you need outfits for interviews or job expositions, Berksha is a great place to look.
3. Pull and Bear
The Pull & Bear website is fantastic if you’re looking for something specific. Their clothes are sorted into different sections, such as school, party, fall and more. When I was looking for clothes to go to the pubs and clubs, Pull & Bear’s party section was great. It’s relatively cheap but excellent looking with just as excellent quality.
2. H&M
If Shein and Asos had a baby, it would be H&M. With H&M clothes, it’s really a hit or miss, but when it hits… IT HITS. Some of their clothes are similar to Shein in quality and look (not appealing), but a lot of their clothes are also super flattering and good quality. I recently got a super cute turtleneck sweater from H&M that is very soft and of great quality. H&M can be amazing for students who want to find cute clothes on a budget. You just have to look hard enough.
1. Asos
Asos: a college student’s staple. Asos is the perfect store for everyone. By that, I mean every shape, every size and every economic bracket. As someone who’s more petite, sometimes finding jeans and shirts that fit well can be challenging. But on Asos, they have a section for specifically petite-fitted clothes and the same for plus-size and curviness.
“I love Asos so much that I ended up getting the free next-day and free returns delivery plan. It’s so useful,” University of Sussex first-year Lavinia Driver-Jones said.
They do offer a premium, free, next-day delivery shipping plan, but it might not be for everyone. It can be expensive. But if you buy clothes online often, it could be useful. The great thing about Asos is that they have so many different brands to shop from. Some of the great brands are listed here. You can find inexpensive Nike, North Face, Adidas and more. There’s also always a lot of sales, and they even offer a student discount.
