Cafes: a key essential in most student’s lives, especially those in Brighton, England. After a long day at university, what’s better than a nice latte from a cafe and great vibes to do your studies? Brighton is known for its vibrant buildings and has many different cafe options. With so many cafes to choose some, there are some that are especially amazing for students.
Read on to find out the Top 5 cafes for students in Brighton.
1. Caffe Nero
If you’re looking for an Italian-inspired cafe that’s affordable but also great quality, Caffe Nero is the perfect fit for you. The best way to describe Caffe Nero is Starbucks prices but with high-quality drinks. You can find a couple of them in Brighton, but my favorite is the one right across from the seaside. Located at the end of the North Lanes, this Caffe Nero is just a block away from the Brighton Pier. So, right after your coffee, you can head over to the beach!
“I go to Caffe Nero a lot, especially because it has amazing student discounts. It’s a nice place to sit and do work,” University of Sussex second-year Lottie Carter said.
The great thing about Caffe Nero is all of the student discounts they offer. If you download their app, there’s always a deal or two you can snatch up. For example, for the month of October, they had 25% off orders for all students. It’s also a great environment to do work in. Caffe Nero has a very rustic, European look to it that makes you want to sit and study for hours.
2. Garden Cafe Brighton
It’s common knowledge of how dull England can get at times, especially during the winter. But don’t worry, because Garden Cafe will make you feel like it’s springtime. You might have a hard time finding it because of how camouflaged the outside is by plants. When you walk in, you’re greeted with dangling vines and vibrant colors. Decorated with all different types of plants, Garden Cafe is any plant lover’s dream.
“Garden Cafe is good for students because there’s lots of space and it’s a very calming atmosphere to study because of the plants. Also, the food is amazing,” University of Brighton third-year Jessie Romerlee said.
You’ll never have to worry about not getting a seat at the Garden Cafe. With numerous rooms full of little tables, you’ll almost always be able to get a seat. The food menu is extensive and full of amazing options. My favorite is the pancakes, which come with fresh fruit and syrup. After a fun night out, Garden Cafe is a great place to go with friends. Their drinks are also super creative and totally Instagram-worthy.
3. Coffeetzar
Looking for a smaller, local cafe? Coffeetzar is a great choice. A small cafe located in Brighton’s North Lane, Coffeetzar’s interior is incredibly aesthetic and perfect for university students. The clean white and pink decor gives off a Parisian vibe that is great to sit and eat in. If you come around the fall and wintertime, they have amazing festive drinks.
“It’s on the more expensive side, but it’s definitely worth it. If you’re looking for a place to go with your girlfriends after class, Coffetzar is so cute,” University of Sussex first-year Lavinia Driver-Jones said.
Coffeetzar offers a great selection of food as well. The menu is Mediterranean-inspired and features different wraps and sandwiches. When I went, the pumpkin spice latte was incredible. Topped with loads of whipped cream and super sweet with pumpkin flavor, it’s the perfect fall drink. And if it’s warm out, there are small tables outside for you to sit and take in the sun.
4. Artbox Cafe
As students, we spend a lot of time at cafes. A lot of times, cafes look similar, so sometimes it can get boring. That’s why Artbox Cafe is great for students, because of how creative it is. Artbox is a Japanese-inspired store that sells plushies, stationery, and decor. And get this: it’s Hello Kitty-inspired! All of the drinks and food come with a Hello Kitty element that makes the experience super fun.
5. Joe’s Cafe
Cafes are great for coffee and a quick bite, but there are times when going to class absolutely drains us, and we need a full-course meal but don’t want to go to a proper restaurant. Joe’s Cafe is a restaurant and cafe all in one. If you want to sip on a latte and do some work, you can. But if you want a full English Breakfast or a burger, you can do that as well. Whether you’re there to study or just catch up with friends, it’s the perfect place for everything.
