Young Women Run features four keynote speakers that will inspire the next generation of women politicians. Who are these powerful women leaders? Congresswoman Nanette Barragan from California’s 44th Congressional district, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal representing Washington’s 7th district, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen from Florida’s 27th district and Congresswoman Terri Sewell representing Alabama’s 7th district. Each will speak her truth to encourage you to run.
You’ll also get to participate in four stimulating workshops. These workshops will prepare you for campaigning in a digital world where “liking” a tweet can potentially redefine your platform. Chuck Rocha, the president and founder of Solidarity Struggles, will lead “On Camera Media Training,” preparing you to deal with the media and press. “Campaign Fundraising Essentials” will highlight the importance of practical fundraising skills that will allow you to launch a successful campaign. Crystal Patterson, the Outreach Manager at Facebook, will speak at “Leveraging Facebook on your Political Campaign,” focusing on using your social media platform to help you and other young women promote political messages. And finally, Nikila Kakarla, the legal specialist at LinkedIn, will present at the “Enhance your network with LinkedIn,” a workshop that will teach you how to use LinkedIn’s 450 million users to extend your connections and refine your profile.
These workshops will give you the tools to campaign. But how will you find that internal motivation? You’ll need to pick the brain of an inspirational woman who’s already broken those barriers.
